Following the devastating end of a romantic relationship, I found that nothing was working to help me move on and clear my head of anymosity and humiliation. My mom says that the only way to avoid depression is to help others or to learn new things. Being a newcomer to California I knew there were many things to do and see. So, I hit the road for six days with no particular destination or planned route.

I utilized an over abundance of hotel rewards points to secure lodging for most nights, but this trip would have been much better utilizing the numerous places for camping along the route. One of the many things I learned ahead of any repeat of this journey.

I was hoping to see things I have never seen before, meet new people, find new adventure, and visit countless hot springs.
With no real plan, there was no chance for failure and the trip
was an overwhelming success!

Not including the $250 I spent on the digital camera with which I took the pictures found amongst these pages, trip budget was kept under $400 mostly for gas. For the trip of a lifetime it was well worth it.

I began my journey by visiting my friend Michiko, in Riverside. She provided me with a vacation care package with incense, snack goodies, cookies, water, and a great shoulder rub down. I left her house towards Santa Barbara, where I would spend the night to get a good early start on Sunday.

And so, begins an odyssey to reconstruct my self esteem, find peace and happiness, and to salvage what was left of my broken heart. This is the great California Adventure, or how I learned to forgive and forget (well, not entirely)

Michiko giving me the thumbs up!
